My Best Advice If You’re Lacking Inspiration

April 27, 2022

hey, I'm suzy
I'm that friend you talk business with. I believe you've gotta build your dreams one step at a time.

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to feeling inspired I am always either insanely magically inspired, where the ideas are just flowing and flowing, OR just completely dried up with not a single drop of inspiration. I can only experience one of those two extremes… the highest of highs or the lowest of lows, nothing ever in the middle. And in those low moments it can feel rouuughhhh! Like where did all those creative juices go?? But, I’ve found what works for me to get back to the place of inspiration and I want to share it with you in the hopes that it can help you too!!

How to Find Inspiration

Honestly, it’s simple. The best inspiration for me has always come when I’m chill. The bath, on a boat, on a drive, on a walk, etc. For me, in those moments, inspiration always comes. As women and entrepreneurs, we fill our minds and plates with so much stuff that there’s literally no room for inspiration to enter our hearts and our minds. I find that I’m either so busy OR when I’m not busy I’m focused on cramming my brain with knowledge from books, podcasts, etc. and it takes up all the space! Everything is so loud! Do any of you feel like that too? So… GET QUIET. That is where the answers are.

Our inner guidance, whatever it is for each of you, can’t get through when our brains are full of stress, worry, fear, annoyance, and noise. Higher ideas can’t dwell in that space. When I’m trying to force inspiration during chaotic moments it just doesn’t happen. I love to refer to it as “clearing the space in my brain”. Doing that and getting quiet allows the inspiration to just flow!! We are creative beings, always in a flow. And a flow cannot be forced. I think it’s an injustice for some to require 40 hour work weeks in an office because our best ideas won’t ever come there. I think that without taking some time to “just be” and not “do” we are blocking inspiration.

For most of my life I’ve felt that “getting inspiration” was a rare and cool experience. But now that I’m deeply connected to my personal inner guidance and I’ve taught myself to be quiet, it’s a constant thing. Inspiration as simple as “what would be better for my kids to eat at lunch” or as big as “what should the price be for my next offering be?” I believe that deeply personal inner guidance has always been there to access. But I’ve disconnected from it. I can’t tell you how good it feels to feel so “plugged in!” It’s life changing actually!!!

Obviously inspiration comes to different people differently. But so many of us just never quiet our minds and listen to our souls speak. That’s actually one of my favorite quotes! “Quiet the mind and the soul will speak.” I want this for you! So truly, getting quiet and listening to your inner guidance is my best advice for when you’re lacking inspiration. It has changed everything for me.

Love,

Suzy
