How to Start a Business (When You Don’t Have an Idea Yet)

April 18, 2022

hey, I'm suzy
I'm that friend you talk business with. I believe you've gotta build your dreams one step at a time.

Something I hear quite literally every single day is… “I know I want to do something in business, but I just have NO clue what the world actually needs.” If you are just getting started with the dream and pull to be a business owner, but have no clue what to do, then you’ve come to the right place! We’re going to walk through a series of questions together to get those wheels turning in your head and on your way to figuring out what the heck you want to offer with your business.

Now, let’s get into it!

4 Questions to Ask Yourself When Creating a Business

  1. What problems do you have in your own life that you wish there was a better solution for?

How can you know what the world actually needs? What do YOU actually need? Or what do your friends need? Start looking for problems that exist in your own life for you to solve. What are those pain points that keep getting hit over and over and over again? The things that leave you frustrated! Wherever there is a problem, there is a solution!

So, find the solution to the problem! You have to solve a problem with your business. If you do not solve a problem, you do not have a business. Every profitable business solves a problem! Also, another little tip… The more painful the problem is, the higher the price tag you can charge for it! Once you start looking for problems to solve in your own life you’ll find what the world actually needs.

  1. What do you WISH existed?

Ok, you’ve nailed down your problem. What is a solution that you WISH existed?? By creating things you wish existed, you are seriously innovating and changing the game within your niche market. That is something that the world needs! AND it makes an excellent offer for your business! People will pay because they wished for it too. I truly believe there are endless opportunities for innovation and bringing something new and awesome into the world.

  1. What is someone doing that you know you could do better?

You do not have to completely reinvent the wheel or revolutionize something, you just have to make it better and be the best of the best within a niche. You have to add more value than anyone else! Look for gaps in the market. What is someone doing that is close to being great, but is only good? Make it great!! Do something better and bigger! The more unique and excellent you make it, the better your sales will be.

  1. Who is doing something that has made you think… “I could do that?”

Take it a step further too and ask, “Do I want to do that?” If you answered YES to both of those questions then I believe it is a dream in your heart. Don’t ignore that!

I love the quote by Jack Canfield that says, “I believe you’re not given a dream unless you have the capacity to fulfill it.” If a dream has been placed on your heart for a business that will solve a problem and is needed by the world, you will know. You won’t be able to shake it! Pay attention to what people around you are doing and if it’s something you feel pulled to do too in your own unique way!

So, chew on that for a bit! Do you have any ideas stirring in your heart already?? If you don’t yet, that is completely normal! It takes time for ideas to flow and with these questions in your back pocket, you’ll be able to think about them as you go through your day to day! Just pay attention. I KNOW you’re going to find a problem to solve and figure out what the world actually needs from you and your business!!

Love,
Suzy
